City Breaks | What to Pack & What to Wear |
City breaks are one of the most exhilarating excursions you can take. Unlike a 2 week holiday, there’s nothing like a short trip to get you out of bed early and exploring as much as is possible in the time you have!
"What I want to focus on is evening attire - lightweight, on-trend pieces you can mix and match with a comfortable pair of jeans."
Knowing what to pack for a city getaway has been extremely well covered in blogs, as well as ‘on’ and ‘offline’ publications. The general rule is to take two pairs of shoes (one for walking, one for evening) and clothing that’s adaptable, taking you from day to night.
What I want to focus on is evening attire: lightweight, on-trend pieces you can mix and match with a comfortable pair of jeans.

"A leather jacket is an excellent and versatile piece to take with you."
A leather jacket is an excellent and versatile piece to take with you. Ideal for staying warm, without being too hot or cumbersome to carry around in the day; they are also great for evenings out to wine bars and stylish relaxed dinner venues. I love offsetting a more glamorous top or dress with a leather jacket, it add a real edginess to the look.
But if you’re looking for something you can make a statement in and offset with a more casual pair of jeans, StyleKeepers have some great options. And they won’t weigh your suitcase down...
I myself am not a dress or skirt girl, I feel far more confident in trousers - jeans preferably. This is even more the case when I’m on a city break and might choose to take a stroll in the evening before deciding where I might get a drink, some dinner and maybe a few more drinks and a dance after!
"If you are in a rush, swapping-out your top but keeping with your daytime jeans can cut-down on time and suitcase space."
I like the juxtapose look of distressed jeans with the elegance and flair of a more formal top. If you are in a rush, swapping-out your top but keeping with your daytime jeans can cut-down on time and suitcase space.

StyleKeepers are an Australian brand that specialise in clean, on-trend designs. I love their contemporary theme; this black off-shoulder basque is my favourite. It’s elegant, classy and would look incredible with cigarette pants or equally with jeans. A cross-body bag such as this is also highly convenient for a city trip, leaving you hands-free.
This beautiful gingham basque has a playful appeal that contrasts with the more stylised design of ruffles and a structured, corset-like bodice.

I chose to wear a leather jacket over the top, I like the look both with and without the jacket – but it also helps if you are walking to you evening venue, and don’t want too much attention on your attire during your journey.
This ivory peplum blouse is both classic and stylish, the plunge neckline would create a very chic and fashionable look on a small bust. Or you can wear it in the day with a vest top under it like I have if you want a little more covered.

Nice outfits and great photography. The shots are clear and at a good distance to really show the clothes. Concise to the point descriptions and information. Some sites really annoy due to bad photography and poor write ups. Sophie, you have truly nailed this blog!
