Spring 2018 Trends | Dressing for All Weathers

Weird spring weather (particularly in early spring) can really play havoc on what you want to wear, vs, what's actually practical.

Stores are full of spring fashion right now; pastel frilly dresses, lightweight jackets.....sandals. SANDALS. I mean, last week we had snow, today it's a balmy 7 degrees C! All I want are boots and heavy knits, I'm shivering just looking at what's on offer to buy right now.

In early spring I like to dress for snow, rain and warm-ish sunshine - all in one. That might sound crazy, but in London at this time of the year the weather can change in an instant. Wearing thin layers with a good quality wool coat is a technique I use quite a lot, and Reiss are one of my favourite places to shop for classic cut coats and jackets that I know I can wear again next year.

These flared leg trousers are a wool mix, making them lightweight but warm at the same time. I've styled these with a thermal bodysuit that I'm wearing under this houndtooth top from Paper London. The inclusion of the lilac hatbox handbag injects some spring pastel.

I like the clothes you share, but I think the price is a little bit more expensive.

Hi Sophie! My name is Tian, and I am from Maryland in the U.S.A. I have been subscribed to your YouTube channel for about 2 years now, and am embarrassed to admit to having probably watched all of your videos. As many of your subscribers have already mentioned (from subbie mail readings), I love your genuineness and down to earth personality. You are also a very beautiful person, inside and out. I have been greatly inspired by you in both business and fashion. I’ve recently started my own inspirational clothing line. I designed everything myself. And, I even built my own website. My background is not in design, websites, and or marketing. In fact, prior to this, I was a Registered Nurse. However, I was determined to make my dream a reality. It’s been a difficult road, but strong and tenacious women such as yourself give me strength. Thank you!!!!! PS. I’ve purposefully not included my site or clothing line’s name, because I truly just want to let you know that you are appreciated!!!

I love your style! I discovered your blog via YouTube. The bag is gorgeous and it's on my 2018 wishlist!! Until I found you blog/channel I had never heard of Aspinal of London. They have quality bags and are more affordable than other luxery bags.

Sophie Shohet

Welcome Holly! Aspinal are such an underrated brand - their stuff is so pretty and whilst expensive, is lower priced than LV/Dior/Chanel etc. I'm glad you are enjoying them!xx

Great post as usual Sophie! I can't believe that you are seeing all those warm weather clothes in the shops while it's still snowing! It's a similar situation in Australia at the moment, just in reverse - coats are starting to appear everywhere while it's still 36 degrees!

Hello Sophie,
In Portugal it is not as cold as in London, but it is colder than it would be to expect, in addition to the fact that it has been raining heavily, which discourages us a little.
Ps: I work in a callcenter and have to pay a study loan, sometimes is demotivating, but seeing your videos helps you to dream a little and gain strength for the next day.

Hello Tania!! I hope you are having a great day :) I love Portugal, your summers are unbeatable. I really sympathise with you regards paying back your student loan. It feels so demotivating when you work so hard and at the end of the month, someone comes along and swipes the majority of your earnings. It makes you feel so angry and like it's not worth it! But the higher up you get and the more you earn, you'll get to a point where there's enough left after they've taken their money for you to actually have a life on! I'm not going to tell you it's easy, but keep doing what you're doing and eventually things will change xxx

You are so inspiring. I love the way you put everything together. Though i live far away from uk, still love watching your videos and love every little detail you share. Thank you for being such a piece of gold inside and out. I do have plans to come and live in London for few years. It would be an absolute honour if i ever get to meet you in person. Love you.

Thank you so much for your sweet comment Umme, and for joining me over here! xxx

Thank you for the effort of sharing this look with us! I love how you always keep it classy.
Maybe you could show a few more options for girls like me who just don't feel comfortable wearing heels?
I don't know why, whenever I am out and about in them I feel like I'm overdressed wearing high heels in a business environment even if I keep the rest of the outfit simple.
Anyways, have a beautiful day Sophie!

Sophie Shohet

That's a good idea Sophie! I think maybe it depends on the whole outfit - if your clothing is quite 'put together' then wearing heels with it can make you feel quite dressy. But also, as you say, it's a mindset thing...if you feel a certain way wearing heels, it's hard to break that cycle (I actually have it when I wear flats, I hate my legs you see and flats does them no favours lol) Hugs to you Sophie! xx

I want more of these fashion posts Sophie, really inspiring and helpful. PLUS, you don't wear the ridiculous items of clothing you see most of these 'fashion bloggers' in. Honestly, some of their choices look great on a shoot, but in real life you'd get laughed out of town! Keep up the good work! Love Donna, New York x

Sophie Shohet

You are so kind Donna, thanks for joining me over here! Yes I think I know what you mean, I love those fashion pics on IG but some of it can be a bit impractical lol Hugs to you xx
