Ditching Big Brands in Search of Quality Beauty? |
When it comes to skincare, I will admit that I’m boring and predictable!
I know what I like and if it works and delivers results, I don’t often feel the need to change what I’m using.
(If you're interested to know what I use, I've written a pretty in-depth article on it!)
"lesser-known brands can be a better option when you're wanting a vegan and/or cruelty-free range of cosmetics."
The only exception to my ‘no-buy’ rule is when it comes to bath, shower & body.
I have always been particularly excitable when it comes to this, and I love, love, love trying as many new brands as possible!
It was on a trip to the gym recently that I noticed a new range of products....I have no shame in confessing that I’m drawn-in by packaging first, quality second…
I purchased a few items and was astounded by how good they were. Even my day cream that I’ve been using since 2013 is at risk of being lost to this line!
"...we’re often attracted to those brands that are front-of-mind because they have the marketing power to get to us."
This got me thinking; we’re often attracted to those brands that are front-of-mind because they have the marketing power to get to us.
But what about those smaller, niche, unheard of brands – can they be as good, or better than the big players?
I think ‘yes’, and I also believe that it’s becoming increasingly popular to say “no” to the constant advertising that surrounds us, and instead search-out something unique – something that’s unapologetically good, without having to shout about it.
Add to this the fact that many independant, lesser-known brands can be a better option when you're wanting a vegan and/or cruelty-free range of cosmetics.
So if this article is resonating and you want locations to search for unique, quality brands, here are some of my favorites:
These! I will be trying them Sophie, you have taken lovely photos of them too!

Ahhh, Lucy! Thank you so much - I hope you find some new brands you had maybe never heard of :)
I love you sweetie xxxx
Thank you for sharing these, Sophie! I feel like it's so hard to find toxic-free products that feel luxurious as well. I recently started using a product called the "Pure Nilotica Melt" by LXMI and am loving the product. It's hydrating, toxic-free and cruelty-free. They're even able to provide better wages to the women who supply the ingredients.
Just wanted to suggest it if you're on the hunt for other items to try!
